ICSG LOCAL TOURS AND POST-CONFERENCE TOURS
The local tours and post-Conference tours will be arranged by CICCST. These will provide you with an ideal opportunity to sample Chinese culture and heritage, and experience daily life and traditions at close hand. The tours should be booked using the Registration Form, and payment should be made before September 25, 2006.
Local Tours
The local tour fees include air-conditioned coach, English-speaking tour guide, admission fees and Chinese lunch. Local tours are nonrefundable once purchased. To make a reservation, fill out the appropirate part in the Registration Form and pay the cost at the Registration Desk after you arrive in Beijing.
All local tours will start in front of Building 1. Please be ready five minutes before departure time.
LT-1: The Great Wall at Juyong Pass and the Ming Tombs
08:30-16:00 US$40 per person, lunch included. Available on October 24 and 27, 2006
During the tour, you will visit a section of the Great Wall at Juyong Pass and the Ming Tomb. The Great Wall stretches 6000 kilometers from East to West China, traversing five provinces and two autonomous regions. Built first in 221 B.C. and re-built several times in the following 1500 years, it has become a symbol of the ancient Chinese civilization. After the visit to the Wall and lunch, you will visit an emperor's tomb of the Ming Dynasty (1380-1644).
LT-2: Summer Palace and the Lama Temple

In the morning, you will visit the Summer Palace, the largest and best preserved imperial garden. It used to be a retreat for emperors to escape the scorching summer heat in Beijing. In the afternoon, you will visit the Lama Temple. The temple is the most impressive and an active Buddhist temple in the city. One of the prominent features of the temple is the
23-meter-tall Maitreya Buddha, which was carved out of a whole trunk of white sandalwood tree from Tibet.
LT-3: The Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven

In this one-day tour you will see the imperial palace and the Temple of Heaven. The Forbidden City was constructed in 1406. It was the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing Dynasties from 1420 to 1911. An architectural masterpiece, it was China's political center for 500 years. It is now converted into a museum with a large imperial collection of porcelain, goldware, bronzeware, jadeware, traditional paintings, and jewelry. After lunch, you will visit the Temple of Heaven which was built 600 years ago. It served as a means of communication between the Emperor and the Heaven. The buildings are a masterpiece of ancient architecture.
LT-4: Tian'anmen Square, Beihai Park, and the Lane Tour

In the morning you will visit the Tiananmen Square and Beihai Park. Tiananmen Square is located in the center of the city, to the south of the Forbidden City. It is the largest city square in the world. At the Square there are Mao's Mausoleum, the Museum of Chinese History and the Great Hall of the People (parliament building). Beihai Park is to the
northwest of the Forbidden City. It was built on the basis of a legend and used to be a royal garden. After lunch, you will visit the backyards of Beijing, on a pedicab, across the small zig-zag lanes.
Post-Conference Tours
The post-Conference tours will show you the most beautiful parts of China. Reservation of a post-Conference tour is subject to a deposit by August 31, 2006.
- The tour fees include intercity transportation, regular meals, hotel (three-star or above) accommodation, admission fees and an English-speaking tour guide.
- You can arrange a continuing flight from the tour end city by yourself. If required, assistance can be provided.
- The detailed tour information of flight and hotels will be available in August 2006.
- If no roommate name is indicated in your Registration Form, your room will be arranged as a single occupancy during the tour and the corresponding cost will be charged.
- CICCST will reserve the right to raise the prices or cancel any of the above tour routes, if there are less than 10 attendees. In that case, the notification will be sent to you as soon as possible and the tour fee will be fully refunded if requested.
PT-1: Beijing-Xi'an-Beijing

This is a short two-day tour for those who do not have sufficient time to see more of China. During this trip you will visit the underground army of Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses (Big Wild Goose) Pagoda, and the Provincial Museum of History.

Xi'an ranks first among the seven ancient capitals of China. Since 1100 B.C., 12 dynasties successively made XiĄŻan their capital. Xi'an is also the beginning of the world-famous ancient silk route. Qin Shihuang's Terracotta Warriors and Horses made more than 2,000 years ago were designated as one the cultural heritages of the world and regarded as the 8th Great Wonders in the World. The Big Wild Goose Pagoda was built in 648 A.D. and is a typical ancient storied building. The Forest of Steles was first built in 1090 A.D. and has been a treasure house of ChinaĄŻs calligraphy.
Guilin is a famous scenic spot in China with the finest mountains and waters under heaven and therefore considered the best place to tour. The Reed Pipe Crag is a cave. Inside the cave everywhere there are stone pillars, stone shoots, stone screens, stalactites. All are surpassingly elegant and morphologically diversifying. The Li River, connecting Guilin with Yangshuo, is 40 kilometers long, with hundreds of mountains and peaks casting their reflections in the water. When cruising down the river, you can see many beautiful bamboo forests, magnificent mountains and peak and fishing boats.
