FESP Workshop

The Forum for European Structural Proteomics (FESP) (http://www.ec-fesp.org) will host a workshop entitled: "The future of Structural Genomics/Proteomics: Planning for the Next Decade" on Oct. 23. It will consist of:

  • A panel discussion with participants:
    • Lucia Banci (Italy)
    • Josefina Enfedaque (European Commission)
    • Udo Heinemann (Germany)
    • John Norvell (USA)
    • Zihe Rao (China)
    • David Stuart (UK)
    • Joel L. Sussman (Israel)
    • Shigeyuki Yokoyama (Japan)
  • Open discussion with all participants

FESP is an initiative of structural biologists, supported by the European Commission (EC). Its aim is to develop a strategy for structural genomics/proteomics (SG/SP) over the next decade, in the broader context of anticipated developments in biological research. It will assess existing European infrastructures and future requirements dedicated to SG/SP. The assessment will result in a series of white papers, which will recommend policy in this area.

To achieve these goals, the sponsor is seeking active contribution of the International SG/SP community. This will involve:

  • Completion of questionnaires available on the FESP web site
  • Visits to infrastructures involved in SG/SP activities
  • Organization of workshops addressing such topics as infrastructure, funding policy and future directions

The activity is scheduled at 7:00pm on Oct.23 in the Multi-Function Hall, located on the 2nd floor of Building 1 and will be open to the participants. The sponsor will provide snacks and drinks during the Workshop

Coffee breaks

Coffee breaks will be arranged in the corridor of the Meeting Hall where mineral water, tea, coffee and dim-sum or fruits will be provided free of charge to all participants.
