Beijing is the ancient capital of five imperial dynasties. With a history of over 3000 years, it boasts numerous ancient and historical monuments, such as the Great Wall, the Imperial Palace, and various religious temples and imperial gardens. 	The Summer Palace (Yi He Yuan), so named because it served as the summer residence of the imperial households, consists of the Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake with a total area of 290 hectares.
	The Lama Temple (Yonghe Palace) is a famous lamasery located in the northeastern part of the old city. It was a palatial residence built in 1694.

	This is a tour for you to know more about the city. You will visit the backyards of Beijing, on a pedicab, across the small zig-zag lanes in the old residential areas.
	The Temple of Heaven was the place where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties worshipped heaven and prayed for good harvests twice a year.

Peking Opera is a traditional opera which originated in the 18th Century. It has now become a symbol of Beijing's tradition. The performances include part or all of song and dance, pantomine, and acrobatics. And the actors and actresses have painted faces.

Xi'an ranks first among the seven ancient capitals of China. Since 1100 B.C., 12 dynasties made Xi'an their capital. Xi'an is also the beginning of the ancient Silk Road. Qin Shihuang's Terracotta Warriors and Horses made more than 2,000 years ago were designated as one the cultural heritages of the world.
