CALL FOR PROPOSALS

The proposals and applications should be submitted by email to Dr. Biao Chen at kitty_gzq@tom.com before the deadline of October 15, 2006.

1. PROPOSALS FOR INVITED SYMPOSIA

Each invited symposium will have a total of 90 minutes with 3 or 4 speakers. The Scientific Program Committee invites proposals on topics or issues related to gerontology and geriatrics, and will make selection from the submitted proposals. Each selected symposium will receive certain amount of financial support. The organizer/chair and speakers of the invited symposium will have to pay for registration.

The proposal should include the followings:

  1. A one-page abstract with the symposium title
  2. The responsible chairperson and a list of all speakers and the titles of their talks.
  3. The reason why the topic is important
  4. Short CV with a maximum of five representative publications

Please indicate if you would still consider organizing your symposium as a self-organized symposium should it not be selected for invited symposia.

2. INVITED YOUNG INVESTIGATOR COLLOQUIA

In order to encourage and attract more young scientists in the field of gerontology and geriatrics, Young Investigator Colloquia will be organized for independent young investigators from the Asia-Oceania regions to present their recent work. The Scientific Program Committee invites applications for presentation. The applicant’s experience should be less than 10 years after post-graduation. A fixed amount of money will be provided to the successful candidates, and all speakers will need to pay the registration fee.

Those who are interested to apply should submit a one-page abstract with the title, subject code (see below), and a short CV with the list of publications during the last three years to kitty_gzq@tom.com before the deadline of October 15, 2006.

Please indicate if you would like to be considered for oral or poster presentation should your application not be accepted.

3. PROPOSALS FOR SELF-ORGANIZED SYMPOSIA/ WORKSHOPS/ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION

Proposals on self-organized symposia, workshops and roundtable discussions are invited. The symposia should focus on important and relevant topics; the workshops should focus on approaches or conflicting issues; and the roundtable discussions should be group discussion on specific issues. Each symposium or workshop should have at least two speakers. It is the responsibility of the chairpersons to select the speakers and identify financial support. All speakers will need to pay the registration fee.

Those who are interested should submit a proposal for approval which should contain the followings:

  1. the topic and title of the symposium or workshop with one-page abstract;
  2. the chairperson and a list of the speakers and the title of their presentations; and
  3. the reason why the topic is important.

4. ABSTRACTS FOR ORAL AND POSTER PRESENTATIONS

The Scientific Program Committee invites submissions of abstracts for oral or poster presentations. When submitting abstract, you should indicate clearly whether or not you would like to be considered for oral presentations.

From the submitted abstracts, the Scientific Program Committee will select oral presentations that will then be assigned to different sessions. Each speaker will be given 10 minutes for presentation and answering questions.

Submissions not selected for oral presentation will be assigned to the poster presentation.

5. PROPOSALS FOR SATELLITE SYMPOSIA

Those who are interested in organizing a satellite symposium should submit a detailed description of the program with full scientific content and list of speakers to enable the Scientific Program Committee to evaluate and approve the proposal.
